Notre Dame - 2009

I'm not gonna say that ND will go 6-6 this year, but I certainly don't think they'll be headed to a BCS bowl game as I've heard some analysts say. Analysts state that ND's schedule this year is easy, which I disagree with. There are several teams on their schedule that could beat them - Nevada, Michigan, Michigan State, USC, and Stanford.

An important fact to keep in mind is that whenever a school plays Notre Dame, they play their hardest. The fact that Nevada, who has a very good QB of their own, plays ND in their season opener means they could surprise the Fighting Irish. I may be wrong but I've always heard that the most improvement comes between the first and second game, which is good news for the Maize and Blue. Stanford will be another tough test. I love the fact that ND will have to travel for their final game and play a much improved Cardinal team.

And finally we come to Jimmy Clausen, a quarterback who still has a lot to prove. He had a spectacular game against Hawaii, but that was one game with plenty of time to prepare. During the season he'll have to prep for new defensive schemes each week.

I predict that ND will be better than 6-6 but not by a whole lot. Charlie Weis's decided schematic advantage will be proved untrue and his massive ego as well as the fat in his pants will be shown the door.

  2. It seems the Lou Holtz bias is emerging again at ESPN. Constantly running the ND projection and showing as a BCS championship contender?? Please lets run the real story how ND continues to be hyped because they have deep pockets, nothing to do with actual performance. Money talks, it bought them Charlie Weis and his dog and pony show. I'm waiting to be proven wrong that they will ever meet the hype and expectations. Every September NDSyndrome returns, let down after painful let down, week after week, but they are still a contender. Please prove me wrong, rise like a phoenix. Go Syracuse... oops that stings.
