I thought the following essay complimented my previous Tour post rather well - enjoy.

Did you know that the Tour De France is currently underway?

If you're like me you probably knew it was going on, but didn't know much more than that. Probably didn't care either.

I'm not sure why Lance decided to race again. Originally I thought it was because he saw America losing interest in the sport and he wanted to refocus our attention. Whatever his intent, America is not interested and cycling is quickly becoming another bizarre European sport.

Perhaps if Lance is in the lead going into the last day I'll watch - that is if it's even on television.

Missy's Mistake

Back in the 90's, when I was still interested in mountain biking, a friend of mine showed me a picture of downhill word champion, Missy Giove. In that picture Giove was sporting purple hair and a dead piranha around her neck. However, neither of these things captured my adolescent curiosity. My interest in Giove was because she was physically appealing, for lack of a better description. Perhaps it was the fact that she strutted around in sports bras...who knows...I was a teenager.

Nevertheless, I had forgotten about Missy Giove until today. In the following article you'll read that Missy was caught driving a truck containing more than 200lbs of pot. Additionally, the feds seized more than $1 million dollars from her counterpart, Eric Canori and another 200lbs of pot at his home.

Oh Missy... the next bike you'll ride will be a stationary, setup in a gray room with very poor lighting. Your next jersey will not have "the missile" printed on the chest. Missy, you remember that nickname right? The nickname that the sport you loved, affectionately coined for you. Rather your next jersey won't include a name at all but rather a number and probably will only come in orange or some other blase color.

At the start of this post I was laughing but now I actually feel kinda bad for her. Then again, Miss's actions were very stupid.

Word Play

US cyclist, Tyler Hamilton announced he was retiring Friday after he admitted using banned performing enhancing substances - for the second time. Tyler's employer, Michael Ball was quoted as saying, "For him to have to retire on this note is a very tough pill to swallow".

Perhaps Ball could have exercised better word choice.

Hilarious.
